Gather around the fire and let us remind you of what it was to be afraid of the dark. Don’t build the fire too high, sing too loud or laugh too heartily because he’s out there and he’s hungry.

Award-winning circus company Nikki & JD are bringing their spectacular outdoor show Fireside to Coronation Park, and it’s completely free. This is a modern retelling of Beowulf – that ancient epic your English teacher might have mentioned – but forget dusty old tales. This is dark, comic, physically dangerous, and utterly thrilling.

Over 45 minutes, world-class performers will combine breathtaking circus skills, dance, theatre and live music to bring this legendary story to life. Suitable for all ages, it features acrobatics that’ll make you gasp, moments that’ll make you laugh, and an atmosphere that’ll remind you what it was like to be truly captivated by a story.

“It was fantastic, atmospheric, both tense and funny. The acrobatics were awesome.”
~ audience comment

Whether you’re looking for a brilliant night out with friends, a unique family experience, or something cool and quirky, Fireside delivers.

“Fantastic entertainment, very funny, extremely talented!”
~ audience comment

As darkness descends, arrive at Coronation Park and settle in (bring a chair if you have one, or borrow from us) to a world of monsters and heroes. If the weather turns, we’ll move the whole experience indoors to the Old Cattle Market, so the show goes on whatever happens.

The event is free, but we’re asking everyone to register so we can plan properly and ensure the best experience for all. Those who register will have priority if we need to move indoors due to weather.

What do I need to know?

  • Please bring your own chair if you have one, or you can borrow chairs from us.
  • This open-air event takes place in Events Square, directly outside Lakeside Cafe at Coronation Park, Helston, TR13 0RA.
  • If weather conditions require it, the performance will move indoors to the Old Cattle Market. People who have registered will have priority for indoor seating.
  • Please bring coat, jumpers and blankets but not an umbrella as it blocks the view of other audience members.
  • There is a small pay and display car park at Coronation Park; proceeds support the running of Coronation Park. There is a larger Cornwall Council pay and display car park at Castle Green. Free parking is available at the nearby Fairground car park.
  • There is level access to Coronation Park and Events Square. If you have any additional access needs that you’d like to discuss with us please email Guy on guy@lovehelston.co.uk.
  • There are accessible toilets at the rear of Lakeside Cafe.
  • Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted at events.
  • Events may be filmed or photographed and the material may be used by the South Kerrier Alliance CIC and its partner companies/organisations at any time for evaluation, promotion or other projects.
