Josephine, the captain’s daughter, is in love with Ralph, a common sailor. But her father insists that she marries Sir Joseph Porter, First Lord of the Admiralty – whose roving eye has already noticed her. The lovers are caught as they elope from the ship and Ralph is locked in the ship’s dungeon. Can revelations made by Buttercup, the dockside vendor, finally enable everyone to marry their true hearts’ loves?

Full to the gunwales with sharp dialogue and catchy tunes, this timeless comic opera is performed outdoors by a cast of six on a spectacular nautical set, using Sullivan’s full score.

The South Kerrier Alliance CIC own and run Coronation Park for the “benefit of the residents of Helston and The Lizard” and we want everyone to be able to enjoy our events. To try and make our events as accessible as possible, we are offering various ticket prices for this event and a free ticket draw. Please book the ticket that reflects what you can afford right now. You won’t be asked any questions and your ticket options won’t be shared with anyone.

What do I need to know?

• Please bring your own chairs and/or blankets for this event. Seating is not provided.
• A licensed bar will be selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as snacks.
• This open-air event takes place in Events Square, directly outside Lakeside Cafe at Coronation Park, Helston, TR13 0RA.
• Outdoor events will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions, so please bring a coat (but not an umbrella as it blocks the view of other audience members).
• There is a small pay and display car park at Coronation Park, proceeds from the car park supports the running of Coronation Park. There is a larger Cornwall Council pay and display car park at Castle Green. Free parking is available at the nearby Fairground car park.
• There is level access to Coronation Park and Events Square. If you have any additional access needs that you’d like to discuss with us please email Guy on guy@theoldcattlemarket.co.uk.
• There are accessible toilets at the rear of Lakeside Cafe.
• Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted at events.
• Events may be filmed or photographed and the material may be used by the South Kerrier Alliance CIC and it’s partner companies/organisations at any time for evaluation, promotion or other projects. Please be aware that it is the ticket buyer’s responsibility to inform members of their party that this will be happening.
• Tickets are non-refundable.
