DESCRIPTION:Play in a Day: The Musical!\nMinack Theatre & South Kerrier Alliance\nThursday 6th August\nBOOKING VIA THE MINACK THEATRE COMING SOON\nCan you make a musical in a single day? Team up with The Minack Theatre and find out! \nPlay in a Day: The Musical is an epic creative challenge where participants work together to write\, rehearse and perform an original musical — all between breakfast and curtain call. Whether you’re a born performer or have never set foot on a stage\, this is your chance to be part of something brilliantly ambitious and ridiculously fun. By the end of the day\, you’ll have helped create something that didn’t exist that morning. \nPart of the Playful Park programme — because the best kind of play is the kind you make yourself. \nWhat is Playful Park? \nPlayful Park is our 2026 project transforming Coronation Park into a vibrant destination for family fun all summer long. At its heart is a spectacular giant painted floor mural designed by local artist Lisa Curtis — packed with games for all ages\, free to play and here to stay as a permanent new addition to the park. Alongside the mural\, there’s an interactive running track\, community bunting-making\, the Big Scribble (where you get to draw all over the paths!)\, a two-day games expo\, busking from local young musicians\, Play in a Day with the Minack\, roaming Commedia dell’arte\, Wake the Giant\, a family sports day and much more running right through the summer holidays. \nEvent-Specific Information \n\nBooking is essential and handled directly by The Minack Theatre (BOOKING OPENS SOON).\n\nWhat do I need to know? \n\nRehearsals will take place inside the Old Cattle Market and the performance event takes place outside at Coronation Park\, Helston\, TR13 0RA.\nLakeside Cafe will be open serving hot and cold drinks\, ice creams\, cakes and a range of family-friendly meals during the daytime.\nThe event will go ahead in all but the most extreme weather conditions\, so please dress for the Cornish weather.\nThere is a small pay and display car park at Coronation Park — all proceeds support the running of the park. There is a larger pay and display car park at Castle Green. Free parking is available at the nearby Fairground car park.\nThere is level access to Coronation Park. If you have any additional access needs that you’d like to discuss with us\, please email Guy at guy@lovehelston.co.uk.\nThere are accessible toilets at the rear of Lakeside Cafe.\nEvents may be filmed or photographed and the material may be used by the South Kerrier Alliance CIC and its partner companies/organisations for evaluation\, promotion or other projects. Please make sure everyone in your party is aware of this.
