Our fourth and final free open-air screening of the summer brings the timeless magic of The Wizard of Oz to the big screen outdoors. \nDorothy\, Toto\, the Scarecrow\, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion — there’s no place like Coronation Park for a classic movie afternoon. Whether you know every word or you’re introducing a new generation to Oz\, this is a film that never gets old. \nGrab the kids\, pack a picnic or visit Lakeside Cafe\, spread out your blankets and click your heels together. This is the last of four free open-air cinema screenings this summer\, brought to you by the South Kerrier Alliance — completely free for the whole community. \nStay for the evening and catch Wicked: For Good at 7pm — the perfect double bill! \nThis film is rated U. \nSupport free events at Coronation Park \nThis year\, over 60% of our events at Coronation Park are completely free. We do this because we believe that everyone in Helston and on The Lizard deserves access to brilliant events — regardless of what’s in their pocket. The South Kerrier Alliance CIC is a not-for-profit organisation and we don’t receive any regular public funding. Every free event we put on is only possible because of the support of people like you. If days like this matter to you and your community\, please consider making a donation here. \nEvent-Specific Information \n\nSuitable for all ages.\nThis is a free event. No booking required — just turn up!\nPlease bring your own chairs and/or blankets. Seating is not provided.\n\nWhat do I need to know? \n\nThis open-air event takes place in Events Square\, directly outside Lakeside Cafe at Coronation Park\, Helston\, TR13 0RA.\nPlease bring your own chairs and/or blankets. Seating is not provided.\nLakeside Cafe will be open serving hot and cold drinks\, ice creams\, cakes and a range of family-friendly meals.\nOutdoor events will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions\, so please dress for the Cornish weather and bring a coat. Please don’t bring umbrellas as they block the view for other audience members.\nThere is a small pay and display car park at Coronation Park — all proceeds support the running of the park. There is a larger pay and display car park at Castle Green and at the nearby Fairground car park.\nThere is level access to Coronation Park and Events Square. If you have any additional access needs that you’d like to discuss with us\, please email Guy at guy@lovehelston.co.uk.\nThere are accessible toilets at the rear of Lakeside Cafe.\nEvents may be filmed or photographed and the material may be used by the South Kerrier Alliance CIC and its partner companies/organisations for evaluation\, promotion or other projects. Whether you’re a competitive parent\, a reluctant runner or just here for the cheering\, Family Sports Day is a brilliant\, silly\, joyful afternoon for the whole family. \nNo lycra required\, or encouraged… \nTurn up\, team up\, and get stuck in! \nWhat is Playful Park? \nPlayful Park is our 2026 project transforming Coronation Park into a vibrant destination for family fun all summer long. At its heart is a spectacular giant painted floor mural designed by local artist Lisa Curtis — packed with games for all ages\, free to play and here to stay as a permanent new addition to the park. Alongside the mural\, there’s an interactive running track\, community bunting-making\, the Big Scribble (where you get to draw all over the paths!)\, a two-day games expo\, busking from local young musicians\, Play in a Day with the Minack\, roaming Commedia dell’arte\, Wake the Giant\, a family sports day and much more running right through the summer holidays. \nSupport free events at Coronation Park \nThis year\, over 60% of our events at Coronation Park are completely free.
