His latest book\, Cornwall’s Fantastic 5!\, shares the amazing stories of five of Cornwall’s most famous people and achievements.\nIn this interactive session\, children will discover simple techniques for drawing expressive faces\, action poses and unique characters\, while building confidence in their creativity. Solve the riddles to find hidden objects\, create pocket stories\, invent your own wild and wacky character and be entertained by the fabulous Story Republic! \nStory Quest Day is the grand finale of The Story Lab – a week-long celebration of words and stories that transforms Helston into a living literary adventure across the May half term. Throughout the week\, Trevow Helston teams up with Cornwall’s writing centre\, The Writers’ Block\, to bring workshops\, events and drop-in sessions to venues all over town — from memoir writing and manga workshops to poetry\, zine-making\, an open mic speakeasy and The Story Lab at Trevow Chapel\, where you can become a Story Inventor and create your own characters and stories. \nStory Quest Day brings the adventure outdoors and into Coronation Park for a creative family day to round off the week. \nPerfect for curious minds\, budding writers and anyone who loves a good tale. \nEvent-Specific Information \n\nSuitable for all ages.\nThis is a free event. No booking required — just turn up!\nWear comfortable shoes for exploring the park.\nAlso running during May half term: Bobo’s Giant Seedling Trail (23rd–31st May) — hunt down Bobo’s escaped giant seedlings across town and claim your prize at the park café!\n\nWhat do I need to know? \n\nThis event takes place across Coronation Park\, Helston\, TR13 0RA.\nLakeside Cafe will be open serving hot and cold drinks\, ice creams\, cakes and a range of family-friendly meals.\nThe event will go ahead in all but the most extreme weather conditions\, so please dress for the Cornish weather.\nThere is a small pay and display car park at Coronation Park — all proceeds support the running of the park. We do this because we believe that everyone in Helston and on The Lizard deserves access to brilliant events — regardless of what’s in their pocket. DESCRIPTION:FREE Yoga in Coronation Park\nwith Kirsty\nA South Kerrier Alliance Funded Project\nMultiple Dates starting Sunday 7th June until Sunday 6th September (NOTE:  No yoga on Sunday 28th June)\nYoga is beneficial for both the body and mind\, offering a range of physical and mental health advantages.  It enhances flexibility\, strength and balance\, while also promoting stress relief and improved mental well-being. Regular practice can lead to better sleep\, reduced anxiety\, and improved mood.  \nThe South Kerrier Alliance CIC own and run Coronation Park for the “benefit of the residents of Helston and The Lizard” and we want everyone to be able to enjoy our events. \nThe series of Yoga sessions in Coronation Park is being funded by South Kerrier Alliance CIC.  If you would like to support more free yoga sessions in the park and other events you can donate via this link Donate Here\n🧘 Yoga at Coronation Park – Everything You Need to Know\nWho can take part?We welcome everyone — from total beginners to experienced yogis! Kirsty\, our qualified and experienced instructor\, is great at leading mixed-ability sessions. It’s the perfect chance to try yoga for the first time. \nHowever\, please note: \n\n\nIf you’re under the care of a doctor or medical professional\, speak with them before attending. \n\n\nIf you’ve been advised not to take part in physical activity\, are pregnant\, or have a medical condition\, illness\, or injury\, please do not take part in Yoga in the Park. \n\n\nKirsty cannot offer specific medical advice\, but she ensures plenty of accessible options during the session. \n\n\nYoga is a physical activity and you participate at your own risk. \n\nDo I need to book?No booking needed — just turn up! Please arrive on time as important safety info and the warm-up happen at the start. Latecomers won’t be able to join the session. \n\nAre families welcome?Yes! Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or carer\, who should stay nearby at all times. DESCRIPTION:Play It Again!\nOne Blue Eye\nSaturday 18th July | 11am–3pm\nFREE EVENT – part of Playful Park\nThis summer\, Coronation Park is getting seriously colourful\, but before Playful Park launches on 26th July\, there’s work to do – and this is where you come in. \nPlay It Again is a hands-on creative session with Helston’s own One Blue Eye – the brilliant recycled plastic workshop based right here in town\, led by maker Matt Nott. Together\, we’ll transform waste plastic into game-playing pieces for the new floor mural. These are the pieces that families will pick up and play with all summer – and you’ll have helped make them. \nThis isn’t just a workshop. It’s about rolling up your sleeves\, getting creative\, and playing your part in getting Coronation Park ready for its most colourful summer yet. Whether you’re five or fifty-five\, come along\, get stuck in\, and know that when you see families playing on that mural in August\, you helped make it happen. \nPart of the build-up to the Playful Park launch on 26th July. \nWhat is Playful Park? \nPlayful Park our 2026 project transforming Coronation Park into a vibrant destination for family fun all summer long. At its heart is a spectacular giant painted floor mural designed by local artist Lisa Curtis – packed with games for all ages\, free to play and here to stay as a permanent new addition to the park. \nAlongside the mural\, there’s an interactive running track\, community bunting-making\, the Big Scribble (where you get to draw all over the paths!)\, a two-day games expo\, busking from local young musicians\, Play in a Day with the Minack\, roaming Commedia dell’arte\, Wake the Giant\, a family sports day and much more running right through the summer holidays. \nEvent-Specific Information \n\nSuitable for all ages.\nThis is a free event. It’s about getting together as a community and putting your mark on the park before its most colourful summer yet. A relaxed\, creative\, all-ages session to get us ready for the big Playful Park launch the very next day. \nCome along\, get stuck in\, and help us deck the park! \nPart of the build-up to the Playful Park launch on 26th July. \nWhat is Playful Park? \nPlayful Park is our 2026 project transforming Coronation Park into a vibrant destination for family fun all summer long. DESCRIPTION:FREE Yoga in Coronation Park\nwith Kirsty\nA South Kerrier Alliance Funded Project\nMultiple Dates starting Sunday 7th June until Sunday 6th September (NOTE:  No yoga on Sunday 28th June)\nYoga is beneficial for both the body and mind\, offering a range of physical and mental health advantages.  It enhances flexibility\, strength and balance\, while also promoting stress relief and improved mental well-being. Regular practice can lead to better sleep\, reduced anxiety\, and improved mood.  \nThe South Kerrier Alliance CIC own and run Coronation Park for the “benefit of the residents of Helston and The Lizard” and we want everyone to be able to enjoy our events. \nThe series of Yoga sessions in Coronation Park is being funded by South Kerrier Alliance CIC.  If you would like to support more free yoga sessions in the park and other events you can donate via this link Donate Here\n🧘 Yoga at Coronation Park – Everything You Need to Know\nWho can take part?We welcome everyone — from total beginners to experienced yogis! Kirsty\, our qualified and experienced instructor\, is great at leading mixed-ability sessions. It’s the perfect chance to try yoga for the first time. \nHowever\, please note: \n\n\nIf you’re under the care of a doctor or medical professional\, speak with them before attending. \n\n\nIf you’ve been advised not to take part in physical activity\, are pregnant\, or have a medical condition\, illness\, or injury\, please do not take part in Yoga in the Park. \n\n\nKirsty cannot offer specific medical advice\, but she ensures plenty of accessible options during the session. \n\n\nYoga is a physical activity and you participate at your own risk. \n\nDo I need to book?No booking needed — just turn up! Please arrive on time as important safety info and the warm-up happen at the start. Latecomers won’t be able to join the session. \n\nAre families welcome?Yes! Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or carer\, who should stay nearby at all times.
